Now let the renovation work begin...

& being primed.

Note: Hospital Grade, Zero-VOC Harmony Paint was used throughout the entire aviary. Harmony, sold through Sherwin Williams. It has no VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) and is used in Government building, Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Schools. If you desire a little color, tint Harmony paint a very light pastel, as there is less VOC in the lighter tints than in the darker. The brighter or darker the paint is tinted the more VOC's are added.

Little did I know I would have a crash course in HVAC installation too. This took the greatest amount of research as I knew air quality was of utmost importance for my birds. We decided on forced hot air with Fresh Air Intake and Microbial UV light in the ducts for elimination of airborne bacteria & molds. HEPA filtration is added . The furnace fan is set to run constantly in the warmer months, even while the windows are open, simply for the added benefit of its filtration and for overall air circulation. I find this is especially beneficial for African Greys as they produce the most dust of all my birds.

Photos: Viewing part of Congo room. All the cages are Stainless Steel 4 x 4 x 3 feet, 1 x 1 inch mesh, 14 gauge. I prefer to provide my pairs space rather than overcrowd them, which often occurs in indoor aviaries. I believe by not adding partitions between cages it benefits the birds both physically (air quality/light) and psychologically.

Right:  Fred and Rosie (Hi Kathy & Hi  Sarah...I thought you'd enjoy seeing your two beautiful birdies entrusted to my care)

We are no longer breeding and raising Macaws of any type.  Sorry.  Our focus is now on Congo African Greys and smaller species.

NOTE: The floors are Commercial Tile over concrete which is easily cleaned. After spraying the birds and wiping down the walls, I use a Kleen Jet Commercial Dry-Vapor Steam Cleaner.  The walls are painted with Harmony a Hospital Grade Zero-VOC paint by Sherwin Williams for improved air quality.
